Welcome to the BIPS training portal. This specialized program is designed to equip trainers and leaders with the advanced skills needed to foster inclusive, community-led peace in Sudan.
Our program uses a "Train-the-Trainer" cascade model. We provide you with expert training, and you will then cascade this critical knowledge to local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and community members across Darfur, Blue Nile, and South Kordofan.
Our Mission:
Following the April 2023 conflict, Sudan entered one of its most destructive civil wars in decades. This crisis has fragmented communities, amplified hate speech, and displaced millions.
The BIPS project has adapted to this new reality. Our mission is to foster inclusive peace by strengthening youth, women, and civil society organizations. We focus on localized approaches through grassroots actors to counteract conflict drivers, address new challenges, and enhance social cohesion.
This training is designed to strengthen local capacity and create a locally-driven peacebuilding ecosystem that can facilitate inclusive conflict transformation from the ground up.
Our curriculum is grounded in proven principles of conflict transformation and sustainable reconciliation, providing both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for effective, grassroots-driven peace processes.
Understand core theories of sustainable reconciliation, relationship-building, empathy, and long-term social healing (e.g., Lederach's Sustainable Reconciliation Model).
Learn to professionally analyze and map conflict dynamics, root causes, and key actors.
Master principles for designing initiatives that are conflict-sensitive, locally owned, and adaptive (e.g., CDA 'Do No Harm' model).
Gain practical tools for relationship-building, promoting civic tolerance, and fostering social cohesion.
Learn strategies to identify, prevent, and mitigate hate speech, disinformation, and online polarization.
Integrate trauma-sensitive methodologies to create safe spaces that promote healing, resilience, and inclusive participation.
Build the essential skills to effectively teach and cascade these modules using interactive methods like storytelling, simulations, and visual dialogue.
Learn to monitor impact and adapt strategies in real-time, guided by a feedback-oriented system.
How it works:
Join a cohort for interactive online and offline workshops featuring case studies, simulations, and practical exercises.
Using the curriculum and materials, you will deliver this training to local CSOs and community members in your region.
Receive continuous mentoring, technical assistance, and peer-learning support as you guide your CSOs in developing their own community initiatives.
Participate in follow-up workshops and knowledge exchange sessions to reinforce skills, share lessons, and ensure the training remains effective.

How do we know if our work is effective? This final module focuses on creating a robust system for learning and adaptation. You will learn how to monitor the impact of your peace initiatives, gather community feedback, and use that information to reflect on and adapt your strategies in real-time.
What you will learn:
As a BIPS trainer, your most important role is to empower others. This "Train-the-Trainer" (ToT) module builds your skills as an educator and facilitator. You will master interactive, adult-learning methodologies to ensure you can effectively teach, train, and cascade this curriculum to community leaders and CSOs.

Conflict leaves deep psychological wounds. This module emphasizes the importance of a trauma-informed approach in all peacebuilding work. You will learn how to create safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces that promote emotional healing, build resilience, and ensure that community members can participate without risk of re-traumatization.

In today's conflicts, information is a weapon. This module addresses the urgent need for digital resilience. You will learn to identify and analyze hate speech, disinformation, and online polarization tactics. The focus is on developing practical strategies to prevent their spread and mitigate their harmful impact on community cohesion.

Peace is built at the local level. This module provides a practical toolkit for facilitating reconciliation processes within communities. You will gain methodologies for rebuilding trust, promoting civic tolerance, and designing tangible activities that foster social cohesion between fragmented groups.

Well-intentioned interventions can inadvertently cause harm. This module introduces the critical "Do No Harm" framework, ensuring all peacebuilding initiatives are conflict-sensitive. You will learn to analyze how your actions interact with the local context and design programs that are adaptive, locally owned, and mitigate unintended negative consequences.

Before intervening, we must understand. This module provides professional tools to dissect complex conflict environments. You will learn to identify root causes versus immediate triggers, map the relationships between different actors (including spoilers and connectors), and analyze the power dynamics that sustain the conflict.

This foundational module introduces the core principles of sustainable peacebuilding. It moves beyond simple ceasefires to focus on the long-term healing of societal relationships, justice, and mercy. Participants will explore proven frameworks for reconciliation and learn to view conflict as an opportunity for constructive change.
